When corporal punishment for misdeeds or petty crimes is still not enough, many orphaned and street children in Ghana are sent to a juvenile detention facility. As they do not have the means for themselves, they are locked up for months or years spending this time in small cells, with little air and little light, all day, every day, with a small rations of poor quality food. They are rarely visited.

Your generous donations to the Second Chance Project will give relief and hope to Ghana’s imprisoned children by:

  • Improving their diet’s nutritional value with donations of food.
  • Mentoring aimed at learning from mistakes, valuing education, and practicing non-violence.
  • Encouraging visits from family members and others.
  • Creating pen-pal relationships with people on the outside.
  • Organizing all day excursions, supervised by officers.
  • Establishing sponsorship programs to assist with school fees and job searches once released.
