AKWAABA! Welcome, as they say in Ghana, and thank you for visiting our web site.

A child dies of malnutrition or starvation every three seconds. Of the 10 million children that die every year, 4 million under the age of 5 die in Africa alone. 81,000 children died in Ghana in 2007. Of the children that survive, many are left parentless due to AIDS, other diseases, and chronic poverty. The number of orphans in Sub-Saharan Africa is growing at an alarming rate. In 2007 more than 1,100,000 were orphans in Ghana (UNICEF data).

A large number of children are trafficked, which leads to a life bound to slavery, deprived of an education, forced to work for long hours in unsafe and exhausting conditions, or being sexually and physically abused. In some cases, children are even tortured or killed for traditional rituals.

Sky of Love is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with the mission of nurturing, mentoring, and educating orphaned, abused, and neglected children in Ghana, West Africa. We promote and advocate for an environment of love and non-violence, in accordance with the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. Our goal is to contribute to the eradication of poverty as outlined in the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Ensuring that an orphaned child is well educated and experiences love and joy brings happiness to our own lives and makes the world a better place to live in.
